My story

Ever since I saw the dinosaurs in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park at an age of six, I have been interested in CGI. One day I found a book in the children’s section of the local library with on the cover a little picture of the T-Rex of Jurassic Park. Reading the book I came across the term "Computer generated imaginary" and figured that the T-Rex had been created with a computer. Unfortunately at that age, the only thing I could do was playing with toy dinosaurs because back then I hardly knew how about 3D software. However, since I was so inspired by the moving pictures, I took out my camera and made a little movie using toy dinosaurs together with a couple of my friends.

When I was around the age of 11 I overheard my older nephew saying he was an architect and that he was drawing his designs on the computer. Driven by my interest I asked him how he did that, and he told me about a program called "SketchUp". After I received the demo version I diligently started drawing little houses. Not so long after that, I saw the film "Thunderbirds". I was so amazed by the real-life looking space ships, that I attempted building the "Thunderbird 2" in "SketchUp" right away. However, I could not figure out how to make it look like it was real. It took a couple of years before I figured that out.
Over the years I developed a additional interest in Post-Production and Cinematography as well. I attempted on making a couple of short films, and at a age of 15 bought a big blue piece of fabric. I used it as a blue screen and started experimenting a little bit with chroma-keying.

In 2011 I entered the Game Architecture and Design program on the NHTV Breda. During the program I have learned a lot more about the different disciplines that come with CGI. I met great people and my interest and excitement about CGI were boosted.
