Harvie and the Magic Museum
" 10 year old Harvie is a smart and lively boy with one great ambition: to finish the last and ultimate level of his computer game. But finishing the virtual game turns out to be just the beginning of a very real adventure that takes Harvie, his dog Jerry and reluctant neighbor girl Monica deep into the forgotten realm of the city's old puppet museum. And as Harvie accidentally activates a legendary magic disc, he brings not only the museum and all of its awesome puppets to life, but also its ancient and monstrous puppet master! "
Harvie is an animated feature which has been a lot of fun to work on. For this feature I created various FX setups and tools, including a broad applied electricity tool. I also continued with development of the Houdini pipeline tools I started working on during Deep.

After the breakdown had been made, we noticed that we had a lot of shots featuring electricity fx. This was designed to visualize the properties of a magical disk, used to bring the museum and it's puppets to life. Because I already had created a useful electricity setup during Deep, I continued working on the setup and made it into a more comprehensive tool that allowed us to quickly generate electricity with various shapes and behavior. The tool relies on point-cloud operations to snap the branches to the input collision geometry and volume operations to prevent the rods from intersecting geometry.
